Configure Email App on Android Devices for Google Apps Email

In our previous post we show you how to configure Android email app to deliver emails from Gmail. That was really an easy task to complete and you just need incoming and outgoing IMAP & SMTP ports. Today I am going to show you how to configure Email app on Android for Google Apps email. Follow this process step by step:

  1. First you have to enable IMAP on your Google App email account.
  2. Now open Email app on your Android smartphone or tablet.
  3. If you already have an Gmail account link to it then try Add new account to it.
  4. Enter correct combination of Username and password of your Google App email account and then tap on Next.
  5. From this Screen tap on IMAP account and click Next.
  6. Now you are seeing Incoming Server Settings, fill these entries and then press Next.
  1. Username: Enter your Google App Email username.
  2. Password: Fill correct password of above account.
  3. IMAP Server: imap.gmail.com
  4. Port: 993
  5. Security Type: SSL (Always)
  • Email app will now check above information by connecting to server. If you entered incorrect information then app again ask for the details otherwise prompted for Outgoing Server Settings. In Outgoing Server Settings fill these info:
    1. SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
    2. Port: 465
    3. Security Type: SSL (Always)
  • Now select Next and continue to complete the setup process.
