Facebook has just announced a new version of its profile called the Timeline at the f8 developer conference. The new layout is meant to be a central location for your stories, apps, and for you to express who you are. Mark Zuckerberg explained it as a way to “share the story of your life on a single page.”
“This is the heart of the Facebook experience, completely rethought from the ground up. We’re calling it ‘Timeline,” said Zuckerberg, “Timeline is the story of your life: all your stories, all your apps and a new way to express who you are.”
“For the first time ever in a single day we had 500M people use Facebook” Zuck starts the keynote strong, the apps are defined by apps and depth of engagement now possible,”
The timeline is a realtime stream that shows you all of the events, images and posts that are important to you, while hiding the items that it feels are not important. A sort of ‘automatic autobiography’.
The Timeline will allow you to post about “stories,” rather than relying completely on chronology for shared content.
