Last month we published a post about prediction of Google Drive launch some where in April. And the news prediction was correct, as Google Drive finally released today. Google Drive is the place where you can create, share, collaborate and keep all of your stuff synchronized to all your devices.
Google is a cloud storage service like Microsoft’s SkyDrive and DropBox. DropBox is the leader in cloud storage service and Google Drive is supposed as a DropBox killer. On almost all cloud storage services you can upload and access all of your files, including Documents, Images, Music, Videos, PDF and lot more.
Google Drive has many advanced features, like
- Create & Collaborate: You can store and share all of your files on Google Drive account with your friends, family and colleagues. Google Docs is now integrated with Drive so you can work with others in real time on documents, spreadsheets and presentations. All the changes made by any of the user is made in real time.
- Search Your Drive: Like Dropbox and SkyDrive you can search documents and files on your Google Drive. But Google Drive has a step ahead to all the other cloud storage services. It can search text within documents, PDF’s and scanned images with the help of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. It can also search text in images.
- Store & Access on the Go: You can store, access and make changes to your files from anywhere anytime. Google Drive supports PC, Mac and Androd devices or access useng web browser from any device. Google Drive for iPad and iPhone will be released soon.
Google Drive offers 5GB of file storage for free. You can also choose to upgrade to 25GB for $2.49/month, 100GB for $4.99/month or even 1TB for $49.99/month. When you upgrade to a paid account, your Gmail account storage will also expand to 25GB. Google also expends Gmail accounts free storage from 7GB to 10 GB and counting.
