New Features in iOS 6 You Need to Know

Apple iOS gets a new software update this season with a new name iOS 6. It has a lot of new features that we talk later in this post. Apple has announced the expected dates for iOS availability as Sept. 19 2012. After its launch you can upgrade your iOS 5 devices like iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, New iPad, iPad 2 and iPod Touch. iPhone 5 will be pre loaded with iOS 6.

Here are some new features in iOS 6 you seriously want to be aware of.

Maps:

Maps elements in iOS 6 are vector based to provide incredibly detailed Maps. Now Maps supports turn-by-turn navigation, smooth panning and zooming and real-time traffic updates. There is a new feature introduction in Maps and is called as Flyover. It gives the most detailed realistic 3D maps view.

Passbook:

Passbook brings a new way to carry your cards, boarding passes, loyalty cards, retail coupons, movie tickets all in one place. You can scan your iPhone or iPod Touch to check in for a flight, redeem retail coupon, movie tickets with the help of Passbook app. If your gate changes after you’ve checked in for your flight, Passbook will even alert you to make sure you’re not relaxing in the wrong terminal.

Siri:

Siri, the smart virtual assistant now became smarter with more languages and more countries support. Now Siri will answer your queries about restaurants, sports, movie showtimes & review, Facebook & Twitter updates and lot lot more. Now Siri is deep integrated with iOS 6 so no tapping required just say what you want to know, like ‘Open Angry Birds’.

Deep Facebook & Twitter Integration:

Facebook, the worlds largest social network become more interactive with iOS 6. Facebook on iOS 6 is so deeply integrated that you can post updates, share links, upload photos, share location from any where. Even you need not to open Facebook app, just ask Siri to post for you. Facebook friends profile information now integrated with contacts, events integrated with Calendar so you will never miss any contact change by a friend. App Store and iTunes now have a Like button that makes easy to like and share apps and music with Facebook friends.

Siri now send Tweet with a voice instruction. If you integrate Twitter with contacts and if you say a contacts name, it will attach their tag into the message. Siri now works with your iPad too.

Advanced Phone App:

The Phone app on iPhone is longest running function. Apple redesigned it in iOS 6, now you can reply with a message when a phone call comes and you can’t attend it at that time. Just Tap on ‘Reply with Message’ button and send a pre-defined auto reply. or there is an option ‘Remind me Later’ that reminds you about a missed call. A new Do Not Disturb mode also provided so when ever you want to stop calls or SMSs, enable DND mode. Calls from your favourite list will not be blocked.

There are some other small upgrades in all other core iOS apps like Mail, Safari browser, FaceTime, Camera with Panorama, Accessibility, Contacts, Garage Band and others.
