Stream Video From Android Phone to PC

Returned from a vacation and have some great pictures and videos of the tour. Now want to show these phone captures to family members and friends. Viewing on smartphone’s small screen is not a good idea, so here’s a way to stream media on big monitor screen of your PC. Almost all Android smartphones have streaming function, our trick work on this feature.

With streaming feature you can stream your smartphone media files like images, music and videos to other devices. To stream content you just need an Android app named ‘VLC Direct’ (free) on your smartphone and ‘VLC Media Player’ (Free) on you computer. Now connect both of these devices over same wireless router network. Now follow these simple steps:

1. Start VLC Direct app on your Android device and follow the process to configure video streaming.

2. Start VLC Media Player on your PC and enable Web Interface (View > Add Interface > Web Interface).

3. Click on Start button to initiate connection between phone and VLC media player on PC. VLC Direct app will detect Media player with web interface enabled. Once done app shows you success message.

4. Go to your phone media folder and select images, audio or video files to stream. All your media files can be seen on big PC screen. If you want some more fun then connect your PC or laptop to big TV screen or Projector and enjoy media streaming on even more big screens.

You can control the playback (stop, play, pause, forward or rewind) and volume controls too. What’s more is that you can also pull up the list of media files stored on the PC (running the VLC Media Player) and play it. Send Custom Message When Decline Phone Calls on ICS

There are some great features in Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. Only few smartphone have ICS preinstalled but you can upgrade your phone to Android 4.0. One of the cool feature in Android 4.0 is that, users can now politely decline phone calls and at the same time send the caller a quick response text message. While the feature isn’t entirely new to the Android platform but the location of the settings for the feature have changed. Now you can send a quick response direct from the call alert screen, which now has three options Accept, Decline and Send quick response SMS.

Samsung, in partnership with Android owner Google, launched first ICS powered smartphone, Nexus. If you ever messed with this feature on the Motorola Atrix, you would have gone into Settings > Call settings > Text message reply to change any of the replies. Not anymore. The settings for the Phone app on Ice Cream Sandwich are now located in the actual Phone app, not the Settings app. To change the default quick response, follow the simple instructions below.

1. Open Phone app and tap on settings option. This option menu have various options for call settings like Quick response, Voicemail service, Voicemail settings, Voice privacy, tones settings etc.

2. On Phone settings menu you will see Quick Response setting at first place, tap on it. There are around 4 pre-installed quick responses to send, like ‘Can’t talk now. What’s up?’ or ‘I’ll call you later’ etc.

3. You can’t add more Quick Responses to the list; but can edit them. It’s very simple, tap on the response you want to edit and write whatever you want. Write those lines which you use frequently like, “Sorry honey, I’m in meeting, call you later”. After editing a response press OK to save it. You can write a long note in this response message, nearly more then 350 letters. This is pretty helpful to say why are you not answering call.

4. That’s it, You are done.

Now use this ICS feature when you stuck in a meeting with client. When a person calls you, slide circle to up to the messaging icon. Then you prompt to the Quick Response written in your phone, choose any of them or create new custom message. When you tap on any predefined response, call will immediately decline and send a message to sender.

[How-to] Unlock Samsung Windows Phone 7 to Get Root Access

Jailbreaking/unlocking is the process of removing the limitations imposed by smartphone manufacturers on devices running a mobile phone operating system (like Android, iOS, Symbian or Windows phone 7 OS) through use of custom kernels. Jailbreaking allows users to gain root access to the operating system, allowing users to download additional applications, extensions, and themes that are unavailable for users.

If you own a Samsung Windows Phone 7 device then you can unlock your phone. A developer, Jaxbot over at Windows Phone Hacker, released an interop unlock for WP7 devices. He name this file as WindowsBreak. To get root level access on your phone, you can either pay $99 and register with Microsoft via the developers hub, or there is the option to go for the newly-released Chevron, which costs $9. WP7 users who don’t have a Samsung will still have to resort to those methods, but the lucky Samsung users can get interop unlock for free, which grants a higher level of registry access than Chevron’s $9 developer unlock.

You don’t even need to be near a PC before you can use WindowsBreak. Here is the step-by-step guide to gain interop unlock on Samsung devices.

Steps to Jailbreak/Unlock Windows Phone 7:

NOTE: Unlocking Windows Phone 7 may void the warranty, disable phone functionality, interrupt access to Windows Phone 7 services or render the phone permanently unusable. Proceed at your own risk only.

Go to your phone’s Internet Explorer, and click this link . This will take you to the WindowsBreak page, where you can find all related information.
You will see two options beneath the description, Read more and WindowsBreak Me. Tap the WindowsBreak Me button.
Following the second step will open up a technical-looking page, with some directories listed there. From there, tap on “windowsbreak”, which is the 7th option.
Downloading the XML file will open up a new internet explorer tab. Without doing anything, exit the browser by pressing your device’s Start button.
Go to the phone’s dialler, and dial ##634#. This will open up the Diagnostics menu.
In the Diagnostic keypad enter *#9908#.
This will open a drop-down list on your screen. Scroll to the end of it, and select the windowsbreak option and save the settings.
Restart your phone after few minute.

Troubleshooting:

If it doesn’t work right, make sure you note the following:

1) If installed, uninstall the Diagnostics application and try the process again.

Samsung to Launch Dual-SIM Version of Galaxy Y & Galaxy Y Pro

Leading mobile phone manufacturer Samsung Mobile planning to launch dual-SIM versions for two of its best selling android smartphones; Galaxy Y and Galaxy Y Pro. These smartphones are named as Galaxy Y Duos and Galaxy Y Pro Duos; Duos used for dual SIM phones. Company officials reveals about full phone specifications but priced are kept reserved. These are last releases by Samsung for this year, 2011.

New smartphones are some what identical to their counterparts. Only improvement are dual SIM slots, greater performance with increased RIM, display modifications and larger battery. Here are comparison for both products:

The Galaxy Y Duos:
This smartphone has a slightly larger 3.14-inch display compared to its single-SIM variant, with the same 320×240 pixel resolution. It has a 1,300 mAh battery, compared to the earlier 1,200 mAh one, and weighs in 109 grams.

The Galaxy Y Pro Duos:
Galaxy y Pro Duos has the same sized screen, with a higher resolution than its single-SIM variant, at 400×240 pixels. It also has a front-facing VGA camera in addition, as well as 1,350 mAh battery, and weighs in at roughly 112 grams.

All the other specs are same for both models. Both phones are equipped with ChatON, Samsung’s communication service and the Social Hub, which funnels e-mail, social network profiles and instant messaging to one inbox. The presence of the physical keyboard is intended to give the handset a Blackberry feel for professionals who prefer typing emails and text messages on a physical keyboard.
