Google Announces Country-Specific Blog Censorship

After Twitters announcement to selectively block tweets on a country-by-country basis, now its Google’s turn to use this trick to avoid global content censorship. Google unveils its plan to block BlogSpot blogs on country bases. Google will now be able to block access in individual countries following a legal removal request. This way Google can meet local laws without blocking content at a global level.

These changes are applied in Australia, New Zealand and India, but Google plans to roll it out globally. Under this new system, blog visitors will be redirected to a website address using a country-specific top level domain. Suppose you visits xyz.blogspot.com blog, then the automated system will redirects you to xyz.blogspot.com.in (for Indian visitors). Readers will be redirected to sites with their own country’s domain name when they try to visit blogs recognized as foreign, as determined by their IP addresses.

In recent days Indian government forces Google, Twitter, Facebook and some other web portals to filter their content as per government guidelines. this country specific content censorship strikes a good balance between free speech, legality and practical issues for end users.

But Google give you freedom to browse the web as it is without censoring. Visitors can see blogs as it is available to global users. They just need to add “/ncr” (No Country Redirect) after web address of blog. Google will then show international version of that blog. Adding /ncr places a short term cookie in your browser that temporarily prevent geographical redirection.

PDF file format and Acrobat Reader was developed by Adobe Inc. Despite being a feature rich PDF reader, Adobe Reader has recently suffered from lags, startup delays etc. PDF SpeedUp is a tool which takes care of these Adobe Reader issues by speeding up the time it takes to load Adobe Reader, as well as making it smoother in functionality by turning off unwanted elements of the application. For instance, this application targets the various unimportant plug-ins which load with Adobe PDF, in order to speed it up.

To get started, download, install and launch PDF SpeedUp, and select the items options from the main interface. The optimizations you can do with this application are:

Disable browser integration,
Turn off all update features,
Disable confirmation prompt (when Acrobat reader closes),
Clear Adobe Reader’s recent file history,
Disable loading of plugins at startup,
Remove PrintMe and Adobe Reader icons,
Turn off Adobe Reader advertisements,
Clear Adobe Reader Recent Files History
Remove My eBooks folder from My Documents, and
Disable the splash screen during program start up,
Restore to original settings at any time.

Once your desired options have been selected, click Optimize to speed up Adobe Reader. It offers several options and you can also manually enable or disable the plug-ins as needed. PDF SpeedUp works with Acrobat versions 5 through 9. This will optimize Adobe Reader, after saving your default settings. You can revert back to the old settings anytime by clicking Restore from main interface.

Retrieving this can be easy if you can access the admin panel of the router, but this isn’t always an option– like when you aren’t in charge of the network, or you forgot that password too.

Fortunately there’s an easy-to-use program that can retrieve the security information for networks saved on your computer. Just follow these three easy steps.

What you’ll need:

A network you’ve lost the security key for
A computer connected to said network OR
The network information stored on your computer

If you have access to above listed things then follow these steps:

Step 1: Download WirelessKeyView (or the 64-bit version of WirelessKeyView) to a computer that can connect to the wireless network.

Step 2: Extract the zip to a location of your choosing and then run the downloaded program.

Step 3: Take note of the security information for the networks you’re interested in. Whether you want the hex value or the ASCII value is determined by what key type was used for the network encryption.

This tool is very handy when helping friends or relatives who can never remember their network keys. It’s also great for adding new devices to a WiFi connection when the network admin is off at school, work, or got lost time traveling. If all else fails, the option always exists to fully reset the router, but this method is far less intrusive.

Book Railways Reservation Ticket by Mobile Phone

Booking train ticket was never so easy in India as you can now get it done through your mobile phone. To bring further convenience to the rail users, the Indian Railway has started the service of booking e-ticket over the mobile phone. After initial registration and downloading of suitable software on the mobile handset with Internet facility, it will be possible for the mobile users to book a ticket through their own mobile phone.

According to an official release issued in New Delhi today, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation ( IRCTC), a PSU under Railway Ministry, has been offering the service of booking e-ticket over the mobile phone. After booking, the passenger will receive a reservation message with full details of the ticket including PNR, train no, date of journey and class. Now there is no need to wait in queues for hours at railway ticket booking counter to book your reservation tickets. Also this new technology will control rail reservation ticket dealers fraudulent.

“This virtual message would be treated at par with the print-out of the e-ticket which at present is taken out by the passengers and is known as Electronic Reservation Slip ( ERS),” he said.

Hence, with the virtual message, passengers would not be required to take a print-out of e-ticket to be carried with them. Showing the reservation message of the confirmed ticket on their mobile during travel will be sufficient. Internet is required on mobile phones to book tickets through mobile. This initiative can be treated as environment friendly movement of Indian Railways.

The passenger has to register at the time of first transaction and thereafter book the ticket using his ID and password.
The service was introduced on a pilot basis for a few and now the more than a thousand users are availing this facility everyday, he said.

The service charge is similar to e-tickets– Rs 10 for Sleeper class and Rs 20 for other higher class.

There is a gift for all music lovers.. Sony Ericsson has just announced a new Android SmartPhone with Walkman branding. So music lovers don’t go here and there just stay tuned with Sony Ericsson..the features of this new SmartPhone is unique music-centric qualities and FaceBook integration.

In this new device of Sony Ericsson Walkman,the handset will play a Walkman button for instant access to music where users can connect to their FaceBook accounts and share music with friends. The SmartPhone will run on Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) and is expected to ship in select global markets in Q4, though no exact date or price has been set.

It’s a 1ghz phone with a 3.2? screen, which will arrive running Android 2.3.

Facebook Begins Rolling Out New Left-Hand Navigation!!!!!Try It…

Facebook has begun rolling out a restructured left-hand navigation that includes revamped bookmarks and notifications for Pages, Groups and Apps.

The changes, originally announced last week, are part of the company’s efforts to make Facebook Apps more engaging.

The new version of the navigation is divided into four groups: Favorites, Pages, Groups and Apps. Favorites includes direct links to popular Facebook features such as News Feed or Events. The Pages and Groups sections each list the two most popular Pages and Groups you use, along with a notifications number to the right-hand side. Game Requests and App Requests look almost identical to the previous version of the navigation menu.
The “More” menu item has also moved. Originally you could see a full list of your Groups by clicking the “More” button at the bottom of each menu set. The new version hides the “More” button until you hover over the left-hand navigation. Clicking it takes you to a new page where you can add different Pages and Groups to your “Favorites” section for quick and easy access

The previous navigation design was implemented during a major Facebook redesign in February 2010. Game and App requests got an additional overhaul a few months later.
